Paul Baribeau – Unbearable

There aren’t many people whom I know that have heard of Paul Baribeau, but the ones who do love his music. Unbearable is his record from 2010. The production is pretty simple. One guitar and a voice (sometimes overdubbed). The songs are lovely, whimsical and personal. After one listen all the songs feel like you’ve heard them a hundred times. Baribeau has a remarkable pop sensibility and pulls you in immediately to his world of the simple. The songs feel nostalgic as if they are being written years after the events of the song, which eases the harshness of some of the pain in the songs as well as looking at the joy with a sense of objectivity. Check this record out as well as his others. It’s just fun music for walking around the neighborhood and listening to the words again. Below is a live living room performance of Rolling clouds from Unbearable. Enjoy!
